Planning Your Trip

Day Trip

If you are planning a day trip to Cottonwood House or making it a stop on the way to Barkerville be sure to allow at least one hour for your visit in order to receive a guided tour of the 1864 House and explore the heritage buildings and Gift and Candy Shop.

Overnight Stay

If you are planning to spend a few days in the region we highly recommend making Cottonwood House the home base of your trip. Cottonwood House is centrally located between Quesnel (a short 25 minute drive west) and Barkerville (only a 40 minute drive east). Furthermore, with our reasonable accommodation rates, restaurant, full-service activity building, and complimentary showers, we provide you with all requirements for an enjoyable and relaxing stay in the region. Your biggest decision won’t be where to stay or eat, but what to explore next!

What to Bring

The North Cariboo region can have unpredictable weather so it is important to dress for varying weather conditions.

If you are staying overnight be sure to bring a sleeping bag, pillow, and toiletries. Bedding for the cabins can be rented at a cost of $10.00 per person for the duration for their stay.

If you have allergies, be sure to pack medication. Bug spray, sunscreen, and an umbrella are recommended.
